Jory Nash, award winning Toronto-based singer and songwriter, is pleased to offer a songwriting workshop for both aspiring and career singers. A master of lyrics & melody with an engaging wit and easy communication, this will be a great 4 hours of discussion and demonstration… how to craft a song. [You must pre-register for this event… see below.)
Please bring one “work in progress” to review with Jory and the group. Are you stuck? Did your beginning ideas percolate but not come together? Or do you have finished lyrics, but no idea how to join them with music? (Or a catchy tune, but no inspiration about what story or poem goes with it?) That’s where we start. Let’s work on this together.
Jory Nash has 8 critically-acclaimed albums and multiple awards. He has been named a Critics Choice, and selected as Best Producer… Canadian Folk Music Award (CFMA). Besides his own albums Jory has written songs for Juno-nominated jazz singer Lori Cullen, as well as music for two film soundtracks. He is proficient on piano, guitar and banjo.
Time – 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. (There will be a one-hour dinner break at 6 p.m. so bring a bag meal or plan to eat at one of the area restaurants. Hot beverages will be provided.)
After the meal break Jory will focus upon individual songs as they are being worked on by participants. For this 4-hour workshop Jory has suggested a donation of $20. Make out any checks to “Jory Nash.”
Please pay according to your means – reduced price participation can be arranged. All participants must pre-register for a $3 placeholder ticket via Brown Paper Tickets – http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2716339 Limit – 15 persons.
